Recommondations for Italian Restaurant

I will be staying near St Patricks Cathderal, can anyone recommend a good Italian Restaurant?

Thank you

I love Alto, which is just a couple of blocks away. It%26#39;s the sister restaurant of L%26#39;Impero, and serves haute Italian cuisine. Have a look at menupages.com.

Recommondations for Italian Restaurant

There are some very good Italian restaurants near your hotel but they%26#39;re really expensive (and mostly worth it) b/c it%26#39;s a high rent district and an area with a lot of high end offices.

Il Menestrello

Il Nido

Alto

Bice

Cellini

Fresco (overrated imo)

San Pietro

If you head further west toward the theater district, the prices get a bit better. Also depends on if you%26#39;re looking for northern or southern Italian and if you want a fancy place or are looking for something more casual.

Thanks for the recommendations although we are already going to the Union Square Cafe one night and would like an italian that is more traditional with a cozy family feel and more the middle of the scale to pay

What recommendations would anyone have in Little Italy district? Is it less expensive there?

From the FAQ:

DINING DEBATES: BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT: Best Italian Restaurant. Must we go to Little Italy?'; Most natives and locals agree - Little Italy ain鈥檛 what it used to be. It%26#39;s small and touristy, with only a few worthwhile hold-outs in the increasingly Asian neighborhood. But you can still find traditional ';red sauce'; checkered-tablecloth Italian restaurants all over NYC, just like Mama%26#39;s!

I would go to Po. Its a little far from you in West Village, but it was Mario Battali%26#39;s old restaurant (where he started). Food is cheap and great.
