Help on specific directions from Newark to Portland Square

I have looked and looked in the forum and cannot seem to pinpoint exactly what i%26#39;m looking for, so thought I would ask it!

Arriving in NYC March 17, two people, and one luggage each. We are not wanting to waste too much time getting to our hotel from the airport but not wanting to dish out 70 bucks for a car service either-so I think the train would be a much better choice for us. It seems it %26#39;should%26#39; only be about 30 minutes for the trainride?

I am wondering if maybe someone could give me specific directions as to what I need to do to get on the train in Newark and where to get off? It seems were close to Penn Station but i%26#39;m not sure if its close enough to have to walk with our luggage.?

Thanks so much!!

Newark Airport has a train stop that takes you right into New York%26#39;s Penn Station. panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/fromNewark_midtown鈥?/a>

That would put you at 32nd Street. form there I%26#39;d take a cab to 47th and 6th.

Airtrain to Newark Aiport station, from the vending machines, purchase tickets for NJ transit train to Penn Station NEW YORK (not Penn Station Newark). Wait on the platform for the next New York City bound NEW JERSERY TRANSIT train. Amtrak also serves this staiton, train is much more expensive and your NJT ticket will not be accepted. At Penn Station get a taxi to your hotel. it%26#39;s about one mile from penn Station - exit at 7th or 8th ave, because of our one way street system there is not much difference which side of the staion you exit for your destination.

PS, train ride is about 1/2 hour, but you should factor in transfer time at Newark, New Jersey Transit has a website showing schedules. Trains run frequently during the day and less after rush hour. my partner just came back from newark airport last night, time from getting his luggage to home (Greenwich Village) just over one hour.
