best walk through central park if I only have a few hours?

which area would you cover? starting where and ending where...staying in a hotel on 54 and 6th. Coming the end of March.

If I had two hours to spend in Central Park in March, I would simply wander for an hour and then come bark. I might go past the zoo, since the clock by the children%26#39;s entrance is lovely. I might go to Bethesda Fountain. But since the weather can be so changeable in March, it%26#39;s hard to say.

If you think of CP as a giant artwork with various vistas (that%26#39;s how it was designed, by the way), you%26#39;ll be pleasantly surprised with views no matter where you walk.

I never think in terms of %26#39;covering%26#39; the park. I just experience it. If you go to the Central Park conservancy page though, you can look at maps and decide what you want to see.

I can recommend talking to the volunteers who work in the chess centre. We spoke to a lovely lady who gave us a small map of the park, planned a route for us that enabled us to see some of the park highlights and then pointed us off in the right direction.

I am always on 7th avenue and 57th which is a 7 min walk to Central Park south entrance. On the west side entrace is the Tavern on the Green a beautiful historic restauarnt to see. You can get horse and buggy ride for about 40.00 - 20 min of park. Just past there is Strawberry Fields small memorial just inside gate to John Lennon (his Dakota apt. is across street). I would %26#39;google%26#39; Central Park and see what comes up and twigs your fancy. Beautiful park, lots to see in walking. Also, if you google %26#39;walking tour Central Park%26#39; an itenerary comes up too. Enjoy.

My fave entrance into the part is from 5th Avenue and 60th. You have the beautiful fountain, plaza hotel, the hores carriages lined up in front...its a very ';NYC'; corner. Then walk into the park past the zoo, the carousel, literary lane down to the fountain (don%26#39;t know the name), see the Alice in Wonderland statue then walk west to strawberry fields then south and come out the 7th avenue/57th exit at Columbus circle.

Have you seen this website...it is great as it has all the attractions and must sees clearly marked:

I would suggest starting at Columbus Avenue across the street from the Time Warner Center and make you way east and up the Mall to the Bethesda Fountain.

Then veer to your left over to Strawberry Fields to see The John Lennon Memorial (and you can see The Dakota Bldg (where he lived) right across the street where he was needlessly murdered. The Sheepmeadows are nearby where you can see the apartment buildings of the rich and famous surrounding the park. I have taken hundreds of photos from this vantage point...spectacular views!

Then I would walk along the pathways, eventually you will come to the Beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art located at E 81st St and 5th Ave, on the eastern border of the Park.

I love that building and if you then have some free time you can go in and browse. Although not a huge museum fan, this is a spectacular museum and you could spend days here!

Actually once you get there, it is so beautiful you will want to just keep walking!

I highly recommend seeing Bethesda Fountain! This is my favorite spot in the city, my go-to spot when I need to clear my head or just relax and think. I think it is he most beautiful spot I have ever seen
