Dine-In Brooklyn Restaurant Week

Dine-In Brooklyn restaurant week: March 24-31

www.visitbrooklyn.org/calendar_details.php鈥?/a>

Dine-In Brooklyn, the biggest borough%26#39;s restaurant week, will offer three-course prix-fixe menus for $23 at more than 175 food spots from March 24 through 31.

Applewood, Rose Water, Blue Ribbon, Alchemy, Stone Park, Tempo, Vesuvio, L %26amp; B Gardens, Queen, Tatiana, Alma, Crave, River Caf茅, Chez Oskar, ici, and Junior%26#39;s are among the restaurants taking part -- some for lunch, some for dinner, some for both. (And some may also opt out of the weekend.)

Supposedly only American Express cardholders can make reservations before March 12, but Chowhounders assert that%26#39;s not true. But see the AmEx website for the full list of restaurants. www.amexnetwork.com/dineinbrooklyn/鈥?/a>

Dine-In Brooklyn Restaurant Week

thanks! I%26#39;ve been waiting for this list to come out. Lots of places to try - yummy.

Dine-In Brooklyn Restaurant Week

hrhweezie: Have you ever been to Applewood? It has always appealed to me but I%26#39;ve never been so am interested in hearing a first hand experience. Guess DIB is a good reason to go regardless!

No I haven%26#39;t - to be honest I don%26#39;t eat out much, but there are a lot that I want to try.

kayeen - I%26#39;ve been to Applewood more than 20 times. It%26#39;s a charming haute-farmhouse place run by a wife/husband team. She runs the front of the house and does the wine selections and he is exec chef and cook extraordinaire.

They practice slow food philosophy - all ';locally'; sourced products from family farms (they have frequent meet-the farmer'; dinners where you sit family style and chat we the producers of the food you%26#39;re eating.

David Shea is a star chef and if this place was in Manhattan it would be constantly raved about. As it is it%26#39;s a tough reservation and is always packed.

Just a friendly admonition - The popular places in Park Slope have ';special'; menus for restaurant weeks and are always a bit disappointing - some places feel pressured to participate and it shows.

Thanks livetotravel! You make Applewood sound even more intriguing. Will have to go. No more excuses... we Manhattanites make it so hard on ourselves to get off the island for real good food. I appreciate your insight on DIB week... makes sense... sadly!

Applewood is definetly worth the time and effort to make that pilgrimage to Brooklyn - Manhattanites are slow to discover the Brooklyn restaurant renaissance! For that we Brooklynites are thankful ;-)

Like Bruni wrote about another PS gem, al di la...

';But the main reason was pure stubbornness: so many Brooklyn friends were so smug in asserting that this little Italian gem was the ideal neighborhood restaurant. Even if they were right, I didn%26#39;t want to grant them that. I hereby grant it, and I sing the praises of Al di L脿, sung so many times before, because it deserves the music. Because there are food lovers from outside Brooklyn who have never been, and Al di L脿 is worth a trip.';
