Surely the most economical way to times square is to walk?

all the best

the bear

Actually, between walking (free) and AirTrain/subway $7/person there%26#39;s the option of the slowest and most complicated way to travel, the Q10 bus to the A train. This costs $2.00 (by Metrocard). All the options are outlined here

Would it be cheaper to take a taxi from the airport or a shuttle?Does anybody have an idea at what cost I am looking at, Thanks

How many of you are traveling? A taxi from JFK to Times Square is a fixed rate of $45, plus tolls and tips. Figure $60 total.

A van service, such as Super Shuttle (I%26#39;m not recommending it, I just pointing out the cost) is $21 for the first rider, $12 for each additional rider, up to 11 total. If there are three of you, this would cost $44, plus a tip. Figure $50 total. For four, this would cost $57, plus a tip. Figure $65 (I round up).

The Airtrain/Subway combo, as already noted, is $7 per person. The Airtrain/Long Island Railroad combo is $10.25 or $12.25 per person, depending on the time of day.

So, you do the math. You asked for the most economical way from JFK to Times Square, that would be the Airtrain/Subway combination. Depending on the size of your party, for a few dollars more you can have door to door service by using a taxi.

Whichever you choose, I would strongly advise against Super Shuttle. Chances are, unless there are two of you, a taxi will be close in price, and the taxi will be much easier and more reliable than Super Shuttle. What day of the week, and what time of day will you be arriving?
