March rain?

So, I%26#39;ll be in NYC from March 17th to 24th

Forecast says it will rain almost everyday - what kind of rain is March rain? Violent storms all day long, or now and then and light?

What kind of rain is March rain in Calgary - weather and rain is what it is, could be heavy or not.

IMPOSSIBLE to say what type of rain you will encounter.

Just last Friday it rained like a monsoon and overnight we woke up to a dusting of snow.

So, you see, it is what it is - seeing you will be here anyway, you%26#39;ll just have to live with what you get.

And remember, it might not train at all, forecasts have known to be wrong, more than once!

I keep checking the forecast as well for our trip March 20-26. It appears that we will both in store for some chilly/wet weather. I just keep telling myself that if I can still have a good time with the less then desirable weather; I give my permission to start looking for an apartment in NYC. I think planning a few indoor activities will help us thaw/dry off.

I have just returned this morning from NYC. We arrived on Thursday and we experienced every type of weather possible (well nearly). We had freezing cold wind, monsoon type rain (soaking us completely along with our shopping bags), clear blue skies all day and then sunny days where we were just wearing t-shirts. You will have a great time regardless of the weather.

First and foremost...forecasts beyond 2 or 3 days in advance CAN%26#39;T BE TRUSTED! It is a complete and utter waste of time to worry about the weather forecast for next week because it will change half a dozen times between now and then. Don%26#39;t fall into the trap of getting all freaked out about rain. It ruins the anticipation.

When planning a vacation a week in advance, my rule of thumb is ';trust the climate, not the forecast.'; It is extremely rare for NYC to see rain every day for an entire week. This is not Florida where you can set your watch to the afternoon thunderstorms every summer. March weather in NYC is notoriously wild. It%26#39;s the month when winter transitions into spring. In a typical March week you will see a day or two of winter cold; perhaps you will even see a little snow. You will also get a couple of days of nice spring warmth and probably a day of cold, raw, soaking rain and wind. Be prepared for all of it and don%26#39;t worry about the actual forecast until a day or two before you arrive.

I ask because the rain in Calgary is not intense at all, if any - there is no point comparing it to NYC. There%26#39;s no way to get a thunderstorm in Calgary in March.
