Lunch Spots

This is mainly a gilrie shopping weekend.

One day (Sat) we will probably be doing the Bloomingdales, Macy%26#39;s, 5th Ave, Madison Ave experience.

The next day we will be doing Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown.

Any good lunch spots you can recommend?

I was thinking doing a pizza in little Italy one day?

Or should we do ';Sunday Brunch';

Are all the shops in Soho open Sunday...what time do most stores open on sundays?

Thanks! :)

Lunch Spots

Most stores are open on Sundays. Some of them open as early as 10am, while others don%26#39;t open until noon.

Lunch Spots

Are you looking for quick, inexpensive but good or are you looking for dining experiences?

Bloomingdales (59-60 st. Lexington) and Macy%26#39;s (33-34 st. Broadway) are nowhere near each other and 5th %26amp; Madison shops b/w the 2 and on Madison, all the way up to the 80%26#39;s and beyond. So you%26#39;d have to pinpoint where you think you%26#39;d be at lunch time. (I think this is probably a bit much to cover).

There%26#39;s are lots of places near Bloomies. Brio is one place I like with good individual pizzas and salads. For something fancier, davidburke %26amp; donatella does a $24-30 prix fixe lunch and brunch that%26#39;s very good. Not sure if they serve the lunch or brunch menu on Sat. You%26#39;d def. need a reservation if you want to do this. They also have a place inside Bloomingdales but it%26#39;s always mobbed when I%26#39;ve tried to go.

Lombardi%26#39;s is the it place for pizza in Little Italy. Five Points is a popular brunch place near Little Italy and Balthazar is a popular brunch place in Soho.

I think most shops in Soho don%26#39;t open til 11 or 12. In fact, even Macy%26#39;s doesn%26#39;t open til 11 on Sun. at this time of year. You might head down to the flea market in Chelsea (6th ave. %26amp; 24-26 st.) if you%26#39;re up early on Sun. and want to shop.

I think we will save the ';dining expereinces'; for dinner time and inexpensive good food at lunch should be fine.

So, we sre staying in Midtown. We would like to do the Madison %26amp; 5th Ave areas first and probably have lunch around there before heading anywhere else.

Isn%26#39;t there a Bloomies in Soho too? Maybe I am confused?

I think Lombardi%26#39;s for Pizza is a must then!

Still not helping me to pinpoint where you might be, but here are some general ideas.

If you start on Fifth ave. at Lord %26amp; Taylor (38-39 st.) and you spend enough time in there to get to lunch, they have 2 restaurants that are good.

If you get to Saks (50 st.) they also have a cafe that%26#39;s good or you can go across the street to Rockefeller Center where there%26#39;s a food court below ground (Two Boots Pizza and other things). There%26#39;s also a local chain of coffee shops called Burger Heaven that has several locations in the 40%26#39;s-50%26#39;s around Fifth %26amp; Madison ave. (look on menupages.com)

La Bonne Soupe on 55th st. b/w 5th %26amp; 6th has good soups, salads etc. but gets crowded.

I%26#39;d say the places to avoid are the chains like TGI Fridays, Applebees etc. on or near Fifth ave. b/c they%26#39;re overpriced and not good.

Yes there%26#39;s a smaller outpost of Bloomies in Soho. It%26#39;s trendier, younger but has a fraction of what the uptown store has.
