plans to visit yankee and shea stadiums

We%26#39;re from Ohio and are thinking of seeing Mets and Yankees games on consecutive days in July (obviously to see the stadiums before they go). First, is this crazy to do? Second, even if it is crazy, what would be a plan for a hotel that would be convenient to get to each stadium? Not too familiar with New York City and it actually scares me! Thanks!

You probably want to stay in Manhattan near 42nd Street but if it is to expensive or if you prefer a quieter area, another part of Manhattan may be better. The New York Helmsley is in a great location and possible places can be the New York Hilton or Hampton Inn Times Square North.

To get to Shea Stadium you can get on the 7 train at either 8th Avenue, 5th Avenue or Grand Central and go to Willetts Point Blvd. To get to Yankee Stadium, you can take the 4 train from Grand Central to 161st Street or the D train from 42nd Street and 6th Avenue to 161st Street.

You may want to try to get a NYC subway map and there are always easy connections if you are not near 42nd Street.

Hope this helps and have a good trip.

Is Yankee Stadium open for tours in in December/January?

No, it%26#39;s not crazy to do at all. I would recommend you check out the websites of both the Yankees and Mets, determine when both teams are in town at the same time, and purchase tickets as quickly as possible. Obviously, you will want to make sure tickets are available for both games before you purchase anything.

Enjoy, and have a hot dog for me!

That is SO not crazy! In fact, that sounds like one heck of an awesome vacation in the eyes of this baseball fan. After all, I once attended two games in a single day during spring training in Florida a few years back.

Both Shea and Yankee Stadiums are easily accessible by subway. If you stay close to the 42nd Street area near Grand Central or Bryant Park you can easily travel to each stadium from your hotel without making any transfers between trains. If nothing in that area meets your budget, you can pretty much stay anywhere in Manhattan and have easy access to the ballparks.

You can get the current tour schedule from their website. It only has dates February through September though. Since the new stadium is opening spring - the old stadium may not have tours this winter. That%26#39;s just my guess though.

Ha! I%26#39;m doing the exact same thing at the end of July. My boyfriend and I wanted to watch our budget, so we are staying in Flushing at a Comfort Inn. It was suggested by someone on this forum about 3-4 weeks ago. Here is a link for you.

We are planning to take the subway to travel to both stadiums, so we don%26#39;t have to worry about parking.

Hope this helps!
