NYC > Toronto Quicker & Cheaper

By the end of this month, travelers flying between the New York area and Toronto will no longer have to make the 40-minute trek from the Lester B. Pearson Airport into downtown Toronto. Porter Airlines (www.flyporter.com), a regional passenger carrier with a downtown hub at City Center Airport, will expand its service to include Newark Liberty International Airport starting March 31.

The Porter Airlines terminal at City Center Airport, which sits on an island in Toronto Harbor, has a new lounge and business center with free refreshments and wireless Internet access, and provides free shuttle service to Union Station, the main train station. There will be seven daily round-trip flights between Toronto and Newark, as well as two on Saturday and three on Sunday, using 70-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprops, above. One-way fares start about $120, excluding fees and taxes.

Yes, I looked into that, that there was no availability for the times I wanted to go. Also, to get from Newwark to Manhattan is a problem if you are doing it at the wrong time.

I just watch Air Canada sales, got one Dec. 14th for 98 one way and 120 the other.

Also, AIRMILES is only 1050 points.

Also, a group of girlfriends did drive to BUFFALO and Jet Blue to New York and said it was seamless.

So unless you are close to Island not worth it.

WE are in oakville and the drive to Pearson is really no big deal.

This announcement is a much bigger deal for New Yorkers wanting to visit Toronto.

We can%26#39;t really avail ourselves of the whole Buffalo thing when coming UP to Toronto, and generally for short trips being close-in to the city center matters, so I think this is very good news.
