Luggage- what to do?

My daughter and I will be arriving in NYC at about 10AM. Unfortunately, the cousin we are staying with is busy until 2 PM and can%26#39;t be home. Anyone have any ideas what do do with luggage in the mean time? If not, anyone have any ideas what to do in NY where we can check our luggage, while we are doing it?

Thanks!

Luggage- what to do?

It would help to know which airport you%26#39;re arriving at and where your cousin lives. Have you asked your cousin this question?

Luggage- what to do?

Coming into Newark. She lives upper west side- private residence (no doorman).

As far as asking her... she is trying to figure out family schedules.

Thanks.

My guess is she must have a local restaurant or cafe that knows her. Perhaps she could arrange for them to hold your luggage. If not, perhaps there%26#39;s a doorman building on the same block (that might accept packages for her) that might do it. Only other thought is pick the hotel on the UWS that%26#39;s closest to her place, make sure you%26#39;re dressed nicely and appear there and ask if you could check your bags with them for the morning and offer a $10 tip. Make sure to get a receipt. Some of the hotels on the UWS are

the Excelsior

the Lucerne

On the Avenue

the Milburn

Good ideas... do you know if any of the museums would be willing to check a bag in their coat room? I would be MORE than willing to open them up to show them what%26#39;s inside.

It usually says on the website. The Mus. of Natural History which is on the UWS sounds promising. It says:

Baggage Check

Visitors may not carry large packages or luggage with them while in the Museum. Suitcases, large backpacks, etc., may be checked and stored in the coat checks only if there is sufficient storage space. All bags are subject to search and inspection.

This from the Metmuseum.org

Luggage Policy

Luggage is not allowed into the Museum and cannot be checked in at the Museum%26#39;s coat-check facilities. This includes small carry-ons and oversize backpacks. All standard-size backpacks, large bags, and packages 16'; x 16'; x 8'; or larger must be checked in at the coat-check facilities. The Museum reserves the right to decide what can and cannot be checked in at the coat-check facilities. Questions about the Museum%26#39;s luggage or coat-check policy can be referred to the Security Office at 212-570-3781.

I just read that Macy%26#39;s will check luggage for shoppers. Can%26#39;t think of a better reason to shop. I think I will call them.

Thanks for your suggestions and help.

Take the train (NJ Transit, not Amtrak)to Penn Station in New York. There is a luggage check in Penn Station for NJT and Amtrak passengers (as of a few years ago, maybe someone knows if it still works)

I think you may need an outbound Amtrak ticket to use luggage storage at Penn station. Here%26#39;s an article to read
