No concerts in AUgust at MSG Why

Hi we are planning a try to NY in August and were hoping to see some shows at the Beacon theatre.

Why is%26#39;nt anything on in AUgust there. Are we better going in July.

It probably has nothing to do with vacations. Either they just haven%26#39;t booked any shows for August or they are doing some renovations. Summer is a slower time for indoor concerts in general because there are so many outdoor concert venues like Jones Beach, PNC Arts Center, etc.

As Apagano mentioned, there are tons of outdoor concerts in New York in the summer. Here%26#39;s a recent thread about Summerstage, the concert series in Central Park:

It%26#39;s from last year--most of this year%26#39;s summer concerts haven%26#39;t been announced yet--but it will give you a good idea of the number and variety of concerts in the summer. In addition to the concert series mentioned on there, Lincoln Center has an outdoor festival that runs for almost the entirety of August, and the Village Voice%26#39;s Siren Music Festival is usually in late July/early August.

In some cases schedules haven%26#39;t yet been released for this upcoming summer. There%26#39;s always a great line-up at Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

There seems to be nothing going on Memorial Day weekend....Summer events start a bit later. Any ideas about May 21-26?

One thing that will be happening over Memorial Day (from the 21st-28th, I believe) is Fleet Week, when lots of Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine ships enter the NY harbor. There are all sorts of activities available, including visiting the ships themselves.
