Good reasonable ';eats'; near Salisbury

Staying at the Salisbury this summer....never know when hunger will strike teen boys....help me out with some advice for ';teen'; food within walking distance.

Good reasonable ';eats'; near Salisbury

Please give a little more information, like defining %26#39;teen food%26#39;. When I was a teenager I was a picky eater who hated broccoli but who ate falafel, knishes, dim sum and curried goat with aplomb. I turned my nose up at watermelon while thinking nothing of downing ginger beer, raw clams and oysters, espresso, chicken Kiev, and lobster Thermidor. In other words, what is %26#39;teen food%26#39; at your house might not be %26#39;teen food%26#39; in someone else%26#39;s.

About 4 steps from the front door is the Green Cafe, they do great sandwiches, soups, etc

They have an array of brownies and cakes

Angelo%26#39;s - Italian restauarant maybe 8 steps from the hotel do pizzas the size of Whitby

Bit further the other way is the Brooklyn Diner, it%26#39;s not cheap but huge burgers, puddings, et al

Over the road in Le Parker Meridien is The Burger Joint, supposedly one of the best on the island

Duane Reade pharmacy at the end of the street if all they want are chips and candy but on the 3rd floor of the hotel there are candy, soda and ice cream vending machines

Ermmmmmmmmm, if I think of anymore I%26#39;ll let you know

Halifaxlad has given you the best options imo-Angelo%26#39;s for pizza, Burger Joint and Brooklyn Diner. There%26#39;s also an Irish pub/bar a bit further west called Kennedy%26#39;s. The famous Carnegie deli (famous for HUGE pastrami sandwiches) is not far either. The Time Warner building at Columbus Circle is not far and there%26#39;s a Whole Foods market inside with lots of takeout options too and stuff to stock your fridge.

Yes, I%26#39;ll 3rd Brooklyn Diner and Angelos. As said Brooklyn diner quite expensive but good experience for a breakfast. Angelos does pizzas as said but also family potions of pasta - you order a pasta dish for 3/4/5 and it comes in a big bowl to share out - that worked well for us. And the Salisbury itself does a great eat as much as you want breakfast - $3 dollars a head when we were there.

I would recommend as the last posts did, Angelos Pizza and Brooklyn Diner. A must though, if you have teenage boys is to go to the burger joint at Le Parker Meridian. It is a hotel just facing the Salisbury. If you go into the hotels reception you will see a curtain and the burger joint is behind that. It is really surreal but good fun, and really cool!

I see what you mean madamsmartypants.............yes, at home they eat a diversifed menu, but sometimes on vacation it%26#39;s nice to be able to grab some simple ';reliable';, ';tried and true'; food, close to where you are staying.

Are any of these places open 12:00AM or later? I feel the munchies comming on already.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Bel, what does the Salisbury have for their breakfasts? Two of the kids are huge breakfast eaters, the rest of us maybe juice and coffee.....convenient that it%26#39;s right in the hotel.

I%26#39;m only pointing this our because we are talking about teens, but there is a McDonalds down the block. Turn left outside the hotel, go to the corner, cross the street (6th Ave) and it is about the third building. However, I%26#39;d go for a burger and shake at Buger Joint (Parker Meridien Hotel). Also, there is Pick-A-Bagel to the right of the hotel across from Carnagie Hall and and Le Parisian )or something like that) for diner food (grilled cheese, pancakes, etc, etc, etc.).

When I was there - nearly 3 years ago now- there was a wide range of stuff for breakfast: cereal, boiled eggs, fruit, muffins, doughnuts of every description, tea/coffee/juice. My boys, though not teenagers, ate A LOT of doughnuts as that was such a different thing to have for breakfast compared to home where it%26#39;s a bowl of cereal full stop!

I was at Salisbury about six weeks ago. I think the Continental Breakfast is now $4. Can anyone confirm that?
