What to do on 4th of july?

Hi, i have been told that on 4th of july everything is closed, is that right?

Museums, tours closed???

What to do on 4th of july?

Everything isn%26#39;t closed, but it is a national holiday. Just check the websites for the places you want to go and look to see if they are closed on that day.

What to do on 4th of july?

Not true...most everything will be open, but it%26#39;s always best to check ahead of time.

Banks and post offices will be closed. Some stores might be closed, but not the bigger ones. Some stores and museums might have shortened hours. Restaurants don%26#39;t usually close, but some might.

The holiday falls on a Friday this year, so expect that a lot of residents will be out of town on a long weekend. Unless it rains, beaches and outdoor activities will be packed. Suth Street Seaport has concerts that day, and there are lots of patriotic activities that go on. There will be fireworks that evening, and the show is free.

The Met Museum is not closed

www.metmuseum.org/visitor/index.asp鈥?/a>

and there%26#39;s no indication that Moma is closed.

HI, thanks to all. It came to my mind maybe going to a yankee game, and what a surprise its agaisnt red sox! nice game...

I麓ll be 5 days in NYC, maybe it麓s better to do other activities? museums and others...

At what time are the fireworks?

I stayed in my hotel room, went to McDonalds. You%26#39;re right. Not much to do on 4th July.

Andy, if you plan to attend the Yankee/Red Sox game you better try and obtain tickets as soon as they are available. This is a legendary rivalry and one of the last times these two teams will play in %26#39;the house that Ruth built%26#39; so I%26#39;m sure tickets will be at a premium, both in availability and pricing.

I doubt that you will be able to walk up to the box office the day of the game and purchase tickets.

Poppa

Fireworks start at 9 pm along the east river. Do a text search on the forum for lots of previous posts on good views spots etc. People start gathering along the East River early and the FDR drive gets closed.

According to the Yankees%26#39; website, that game is sold out. You can try finding tickets on stubhub.com.

Hi Andy,

Personally I like the summer holiday weekends in Manhattan.

Many locals head out of the city to summer homes, beaches ect. Therefore the city is really pretty empty. It%26#39;s great getting out early in the morning and seeing the streets without many cars let alone people.

The Macy%26#39;s 4th of July fireworks are incredible. and that alone will be worth being here over the 4th.

You will also be able to make restaurant reservations in typically hard to get into places.

There are tourists here during that time so I can%26#39;t imagine that tours ect will be closed.

As said the 4th is a national holiday meaning banks, post office ect. will be closed.
