Empire State Building

Is it worth it to go to the 102nd floor? Can I buy the tickets in advance on line?

Empire State Building

The 102nd floor takes you to the base of the lightning rod while the 86th floor is just a little further down. I don%26#39;t think the view between the two is all that different. You can buy tickets online at www.empirestatebuilding.com

The Empire state building looks better from the outside than inside..... If it%26#39;s a view of the city you are looking for.. I would spend my money on a beverage up at the View Lounge at the Marriot Marquis.. 360 degree rotate on the 38th floor..... great views with a seat and not a crowd with bobwire and lines in hallways...

If you%26#39;ve never been to the top of the ESB, then do go (it%26#39;s one of those 100 things to do before you die experiences). Don%26#39;t think that Floor 102 offers a better view although it is behind glass so definitely warmer.

If you%26#39;ve been before then try Top of the Rock. Even the guys over at ESB endorse it: one of their employees said it is great because it gives you a wonderful view of the ESB!

Hia, If its a clear day, no fog or mist then id advise going all the way to the top to get your good photos

Confused here - why would the photos be any better from the 102nd floor?

I do not think it is worth going to the 102nd floor. The windows are small, they are not clear to see through, not worth the extra $$.

Please, what floor is better to go ?

thanks

It is more of the fact that you have gone up the Empire State Building. You have to take pictures between safety wire etc. is what they mean. The Lobby is definitely worth seeing, the art decor mural etc. THE TOP OF ROCK is a better bet in my books.

Read this thread from the FAQ on the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock. I don%26#39;t think the difference between the 86th and 102nd floor is meaningful enough to warrant the extra money and time, so the 86th floor is the better choice. But like many other people, I think Top of the Rock is better all around:
