Any one tried the blue double decker buses -CitySightsNY???

Are these similar to the Grayline HOHO buses? They dont seem to be mentioned at all. Price is similar ($49 for 48 hrs - all inclusive) but they also include free circle line 75 minutes cruise (cost of $19) as well as entry to Museum of the City of New York.. So it seems to be a great deal.

NYC experts - please advise if these buses are widely used by tourists and how they compare to Grayline HOHO. Thank you so much/

We took the CitysightsNY bus tour and found it to be very good. They aren%26#39;t as busy as the Grayline and there is only a top deck so it makes it easier to get a seat. The guides were very informative and where eager to answer any questions anyone had. We pre booked our tickets but this wasn%26#39;t necessary as their are loads of people selling the tickets in Times Square and sometimes offer better deals.

Hope this helps.

I was going to ask the same exact question as the original poster. LOL. Any other thoughts on these busses since last summer?

Also, someone mentioned better discounts when waiting to purchase tickets and getting them at Times Square. Is this still true? We will be at the Hampton Inn Times Square in June for 2 days and are considering this option as a way to see some of the city.

Some people have said you wait longer for the blue buses as there aren%26#39;t as many. There will always be pros and cons. The pros-less crowded, evidently a bit of protection up top if it rains (a canopy) but not as frequent. Grayline is currently offering 2 for 1 tickets if purchased online.

Well, as a local who took the Citysights, I have a much different impression. Cant compare them to the red bus here, since I%26#39;ve only done Citysights, but I was amazed at the lack of knowledge of the guides, and the lack of structure. The uptown loop guide talked almost exclusively about the price of real estate - which I think would interest visitors in a general and superficial way, but not a whole tour about his obvious resentment about being priced out of Manhattan as he indicated the price range for apartments in every building we passed, but didnt think to mention the Hearst Building, or anything about the Time Warner Center or Central Park west aside from the prices.

The downtown loop guide was better, but got angry with me for pointing out that Tim Robbins was on rollerblades next to the bus in a lull of the commentary. I figured a visitor could be interested in seeing a celebrity in NYC - crazy me!

I admit I have taken these buses in Barcelona and Mexico City and far prefer the higher quality, consistent taped commentary over the whims of the individual guide.

DO NOT TAKE THE BLUE BUSES! They are very few and far between. We were in NYC last june and we took the blue buses . Apparently there are only 4 buses compared to the many Greyline buses. For two mornings, we were waiting for the blue buses for ages due to the first bus being towed away, no lie! They have a great guide by the name of Sherwood,';they named a forest after him in England!'; Other than that, the service is useless. Go red every time.
