restaurant near ground zero, battery park

We are going to see the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Tuesday and thought that since we would be returning to the Battery Park area we should also see Ground Zero. Is there a family friendly restaurant in that area for dinner? We have 2 teenagers and they love diners, pizza, pasta and chinese food. It looks like Little Italy and Chinatown are somewhat near but is there anything near the World Trade Center area that you can recommend?

There are a few places nearby, but I%26#39;d go to Chinatown. There%26#39;s so much construction and rehab going on at the WTC that it will be better to eat elsewhere. Plus, the Chinese and Vietnamese places are real bargains and some are fun for people watching.

You could walk it or take the #4,5 from Fulton Street one stop uptown to Brooklyn Bridge, and then the #6 one stop uptown to Canal STreet.

(The best way - the R at Cortlandt Street uptown to Canal - is not possible, since Cortlandt Street station is closed until further notice. But you could catch the R at City Hall station.)

The other trains in the area - A, C, E and #2, 3 - will take you to the very west part of Canal Street, which is out of the way.

If you do want to stay in the area, (what time of year?) go to the World Financial Center and eat at Southwest NY (get it?), with a lovely view of the little marina.

Thank you for the ideas. We will be there next Tuesday, March 18th.

Great! I know there%26#39;s an annual food sampling day at the World Financial Center next week, but I can%26#39;t remember if it%26#39;s 3/18 or 3/20. From $1 - $5 per dish, you can sample foods from the diff restaurants at the WFC. But be careful, it can add up pretty quickly.

Wierd, I can%26#39;t find it on their website, but I saw an ad for it recently:

Evven so, I wouldn%26#39;t call that ';lunch';, but it%26#39;s fun.

South street Seaport is not far from Ground Zero and has a number of family friendly dining options. There is even a small shopping mall there that has a food court%26gt; Here is a link to their website: southstreetseaport.com/html/mallattractions.鈥?/a>
