Nosying around Chelsea area??

Where exactly is this area, and what is there to see...I am a window shopper and like history too and of course like to eat/snack/nibble. Thanks.

Nosying around Chelsea area??

Chelsea is a neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan, north of the West Village and the Meatpacking District and south of Hell%26#39;s Kitchen. It is the most notable gay neighborhood in Manhattan these days, and it is also home to the highest concentration of commercial art galleries in the city. The Chelsea Piers sports complex and the Chelsea Market food hall are also there.

Here%26#39;s a map of the Chelsea art galleries:

Some great restaurants in the neighborhood: Cookshop, Trestle on Tenth, Le Zie, La Luncheonette, The Red Cat, Suenos, Rocking Horse. You can get directions, see menus, read reviews, etc. at menupages.com

You can also go to Food Network hq and the gourmet food shops at Chelsea Market. I highly reco the Fat Witch Brownies.

Another gallery tour company, too.

QB is right--those brownies are good. It%26#39;s only March and I%26#39;ve already eaten enough of them to fill a small suitcase. If you do go to Chelsea Market, also give the ice cream at Ronnybrook Dairy a try--they have their own cows!

Foodsofny.com does walking/tasting tours of various neighborhoods and is a great way to sample lots of different places. They offer a tour of Chelsea and the meatpacking dist.
