Leave tomorrow

Hi guys well i am off to the great city that is New York for the 4th time tomorrow and i have just a couple of questions that i am hopeing that some nice people on here might help me out with. And before anyone starts shouting at me yes these 2 questions have probaly been asked a hundred times.

Can any one tell me a good steak house that dont mind you wearing jeans and a shirt, as i wear a suit 5 days of the week and i never bring suits or ties on hols. the price isnt a big issue but i dont want to break the bank on a fillet steak lol and also somewhere that as other options than steak as my g/f is not very keen on red meat.dont really care where abouts in the city it is either. hope i narrowed that question down a bit :-)

also can you please tell me is the village the best place to go at night for a few drinks and maybe a club or something. %26lt;----- a bit vauge i know sorry .

cthanks guys in advance for any advice you can give and i cant wait to get back to what i call my 2nd home :-)

I%26#39;d just say, there are jeans and then there are jeans. If you look neat and well groomed, jeans are fine. Shoes or boots(vs. trainers or what we call sneakers) are better for a restaurant. Don%26#39;t look like you%26#39;re getting ready to work on the car. ;)

Most steakhouses don%26#39;t require a suit %26amp; tie (I can%26#39;t think of one that does really), but for a good steak plus other things for your g/f, many of the French bistros will work and are more casual than the typical steakhouse where you%26#39;ll often find lots of businessmen in suits. Balthazar in Soho has very good steak frites (chips to you ;), is a buzzing place and has lots of other things for your girlfriend. BUT you need a reservation to get in. Landmarc has 2 locations, one downtown and one in the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle and their steak is good and they have lots of other things. If you really want a steakhouse, Bobby Van%26#39;s Grill in the theater district is a good option.

If by clubs you mean dance clubs, those are mostly in Chelsea and many do have strict dress codes to get in. You will find some casual bars and pubs in the village (esp. the east village) but the lower east side might be even better.

I%26#39;ll second NyWhiz%26#39;s recommendations of Landmarc and Balthazar, and add Strip House to the list. It%26#39;s on 12th b/t 5th Avenue and University. It%26#39;s a steakhouse, but they have very good seafood options as well. And the atmosphere is very good.

My favorite bar in the city is Angel%26#39;s Share, which is in the East Village on Stuyvesant Street b/t 9th Street and 3rd Avenue. You have to go through the door of the Japanese/Korean place at the same address and up the steps to the second floor. They don%26#39;t allow groups larger than 4, so it%26#39;s calm and adult without being boring. Great decor and very good drinks..

cheers guys ....not long to go now :-)
