Belvedere or Hotel 57

My husband and I are coming to the city late summer and are starting to look at hotel packages since we are coming from New Orleans. We don%26#39;t have a certain location in mind since you can get any where by subway. These 2 hotels are priced affordable and just want some opinions on both.

Thanks for the help.

Belvedere or Hotel 57

The Belvedere is an older building but a tried and true budget option in Times Square. Hotel 57 used to get very iffy/mixed reviews but seems to have gotten better lately. I personally am not a fan of packages since you usually wind up making a compromise in either airfare or hotel and they%26#39;re not very flexible. Have you priced the air and hotel sepaarately? Late summer should yield some good hotel bargains. Jet Blue nonstop is the way to fly, imo. Book a cancelable hotel now and check specials on travelzoo.com closer to your trip.

Belvedere or Hotel 57

We have just stayed 4 nights at the Belvedere and although it was not one of the best NY hotels we have stayed in, I would stay there again. Before, we have stayed at the New York Helmsley on 42nd, and the InterContinental The Barclay on 48th and they were much nicer, as the stars would indicate. This last trip there was a big group of us so we had to look for a hotel to suit everyones budget.

The hotel is just off Times Sqaure, but on a quiet street so you won%26#39;t be affected by street noise. The lobby is very modern and clean, but they were renovating our floor meaning there was no carpet. It wasn%26#39;t they best sight being greeted to concrete floor but the rooms were they nice and spotlessly clean. When I say renovating, I don%26#39;t mean construction, I think they were just relaying the carpet, although this wasn%26#39;t completed during our stay.

The best thing about the Belvedere is it%26#39;s location. We could be in Central Park in 10 minutes one way, and then the Empire State and Madison Square Gardens in 15 minutes the other way (by foot). Theres a subway station literally seconds away.
