Please can anyone help - my husband and I are planning to visit New York this year for the first time and of course we will be spending time in NYC but we are country folk and would love to see a bit of rural NY as well. What would be the best area to visit to see some working farms, country life, rural walks etc??

Try Dutchess County. Lot%26#39;s of farms and pick your own places, quaint towns and historic sites. About 1 1/2 hours from the city.
