Hello Everyone...

The middle of April, I will be in NYC from approx. 2PM on Wed to 5 PM on Thurs. We are staying at The New Yorker Hotel 8th Avenue near Times Square. We will have a rental, but with it being 30 dollars to park, with no in or outs, we will probably leave the car alone until checkout time on Thursday. I thought we would try to do Top of the Rock late afternoon on Day 1. We thought of doing a Hop on, Hop off bus tour early on Day 2, and planning to leave the car at the hotel and try to get a late checkout. Any thoughts from you professionals. I really appreciate your help.....

Hello Everyone...

I%26#39;m not a professional, and I don%26#39;t know if anyone here is, but even if we were, it might be hard to answer your question. Why? Other than saying that you will be in Times Square and that you are thinking about taking a tour bus, you haven%26#39;t said how many people are in your party, how old they are, and what interests they have. As a native New Yorker I could give you all kinds of exciting itineraries, none of which might be on interest to you, if they don%26#39;t fit with your needs and desires.

I would suggest that you tell us a bit about yourself. Otherwise your question will be hard to answer and will annoy people who are here not because they are getting paid, but because they love New York City.

Hello Everyone...

You can leave your luggage at the front desk of the hotel and pick it up later that evening.

1) The New Yorker is not really near Times Square but rather near Madison Square Garden/Macy%26#39;s/Penn station. You can walk to Times Square in about 10 mins.

2) If you%26#39;re parking with the hotel, it%26#39;s probably $30/day and if you go over the 24 hrs. (5 pm is past 2pm) they will likely charge you for another day so it could be $60. Look for another garage near your hotel on iconparking.com and you may save some money.

3) For such a short visit, you%26#39;d be better not to do any hopping on and off as it will take time. I%26#39;d do one of the nypartyshuttle tours, either the one that starts at 3 if you get in on time or the night time tour on your first day which will leave you free on the second day to poke around yourself.

Do you really need the car? Anyway to not have one here and fly or take a train into NYC?

I agree - take a full tour, like nypartyshuttle or kingofnyc.coml. Also, guidebooks like Frommer%26#39;s have great one and two day itineraries.

And, since you think we%26#39;re professionals, you can send that check to: Queensboulevard Tourism, Inc. 108-10 Queens Boulevard, Queens, NY...

Queens...That is pretty funny. I am bringing the car with me as we are visiting DC and driving to NYC for a day and a half. I know it%26#39;s not much, but it is all we can do. Thanks for the info.
