We arrive Apr 1 and fly out the 5th. What to do with the intervening time? Katie is 15 and a HS freshman. She loves clothes (natch!), technology, and above all, music. Can you recommend venues or specific shows? Any good design shows or museums? Cool places to eat? Tours? What were the big hits for your kids in NYC? Thanks!

try to see a couple broadway musicals and or comedys.

Hairspray comes to mind for that age.

Tickets at tkts times square are half price same day for cash.

Shopping sightseeing can be done from rock center up to central park on the avenue and back down.

Also MAcys has a big shopping center on 34th st.

check ticketmaster for music concerts that week.

You can tour the lower harbor and out of south st seaport downtown which is enjoyable.

check javits center for what is in town might be technology show or other.

When we took our daughter to NYC when she was a teen, she liked the ESB (TOTR wasn%26#39;t open then but I%26#39;m sure she would have liked it). She also enjoyed having pizza at John%26#39;s on Bleecker Street and good deli food at the original Second Avenue Deli. Also, she enjoyed seeing plays on Broadway. Of course she loves clothes so we really had to restrain her LOL!

Have you asked her what she would like to do? Have her look at a good guidebook or look at the ';Things to do'; on the left-hand side of this page. This will help her come up with some good ideas. Our daughter also enjoyed her visit to AMNH (www.amnh.org).

we are so out of it that we dont know what the initials stand for - will look them up asap.

BTW, is there some sort of shuttle to Manhattan from JFK? We arrive around six.

Do not take a shuttle from JFK to Manhattan. They are not reliable and will end up costing the same or more than a taxi. Taxi is $45 fixed fare for all passengers plus $4 toll plus tip to anywhere in Manhatttan.
