Day 1 help

would like to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, then visit the Statten Island ferry, Ground Zero, point out Wall Street to kids (ages 12 and 13), point out Trinity Church and end up in Chinatown or Little Italy around lunch. How would you do this with a starting point of the Marriott Marquis and what is best mode of transportation, foot, subway, bus?

Day 1 help

I gather from one of your other posts that you are walking over the bridge towards Manhattan. I believe it lets off somewhere near City Hall. Then, I%26#39;d walk through City Hall Park, take Vesey Street or Fulton St one block west, and you%26#39;ll be at the WTC. Near the south end of the WTC is Liberty Park, which is a little plaza, and you can walk back up to Broadway through there. Keep walking south on Broadway and after a couple blocks, the Trinity Church will be on your right and Wall Street will be on your left. Head down Wall Street, and the first place you%26#39;ll be able to turn right is Broad Street, which is where the front of the Exchange is (you%26#39;ll see a side entrance/exit on Wall St.). Either walk back up Wall Street or walk down to Exchange Place, make a right, and you%26#39;ll be back on Broadway. Keep walking south and you%26#39;ll see the bull. From there, you%26#39;ll be able to see Battery Park. The Staten Island Ferry terminal is to the far left of Battery Park. Broadway turns into State St. at the bull, and bears left-- you can follow that to get to the ferry terminal as well. Then I%26#39;d take the subway back up to Chinatown/Little Italy.

this is exactly what i was looking for thanks. we don%26#39;t mind walking, just want the most direct route possible.

if you start from marriott marquis midtown the best way is subway to downtown, you can ask there are various lines all going downtown, get off on broadway downtown and proceed to walk your way around. Bring comfortable shoes and have fun.

Hopstop.com will help you with exact transit (and walking) instructions and maps.google.com is very good for getting you a map of your itinerary. By looking at it on a map, you might decide to change the order of your day. The things you list are a pretty full day when you include time to get to each. If you attempt both the bridge walk and the roundtrip Staten Island ferry ride and stops along the way, it will be well past lunch (imo).

I would consider doing the Staten Island ferry first then walking north to Bowling Green for the bull and continue walking to WTC site.

Depending on how long this takes, it could be lunch time and you can do the Brooklyn Bridge after lunch. (or go to Brooklyn and have lunch there).
