NYC crane collapse kills 4 at East 51st and 2nd
Isn%26#39;t that right near The Pod Hotel? Is anyone from this forum staying here this weekend?
I have to say, I%26#39;m not surprised by this. There has been so much crummy constructing going up lately, with seemingly little oversight.

Just saw that on Yahoo news. I think its not far from where we had our fave breakfast at Ess a Bagel...terrible......we too hope the toll goes no higher, and hope for the best...
Just terrible. Hotels within a 2 block radius of this site are
San Carlos
Affinia 50
Kimberly
Benjamin
Courtyard Marriot Midtown east
Hoping no more serious injuries.
Let%26#39;s keep praying for those injured and worse.
It does seem (is it just me?) that construction accidents in the City are skyrocketing.
Between peope blowing up their townhouses, cranes and construction equipment collapsing, steam pipe explosions, etc, things are pretty crazy.
That said - still the safest large city in America to visit.
Let%26#39;s hope this doesn%26#39;t get any worse, and we start getting some better oversight on the rampant construction here.
A very sad weekend in NYC and Atlanta our prayers and thoughts go out to you all.
