Grayz - mini review

Just got back from entertaining 5 clients at this somewhat new place - excellent! The food was outstanding, and the service was beyond outstanding. We were in the small private room at the back and were pretty loud, but never heard another client and never felt that the conversation was being interupted by the constant attentions of the wait staff (which is an art!)

First of all, the room is gorgeous - and we all remarked on the unique floral arrangements. I was early and had a chance to review the wine list, which is vast with a great selection of wines from the major regions of France, Spain, Italy, California and elsewhere.

Dining with a group of people on an expense account allows the freedom to try or at least see every dish on the small menu - but of course most of us wanted the same thing. 3 of us had ordered the short rib croque monsieur when the description of the hanger steak (marinated in soy sauce, sesame, etc) made us change our order. It was amazing - I didnt want it to end! The only issue was with the steak - typical French! All 3 steaks came out almost raw, so we had to send them back (I was the medium rare - it was purple/cold throughout - the other people ordered medium and they got bright red, which would have been fine for me).

One of my clients had the mixed green salad which came in this gorgeous, almost floral arrangement. My crab cake appetizer was slightly overpowered by the lemongrass and other accompaniments, but still orgasmic!

everyone was thrilled with their food - and these are ad agency foodies (plus French foodie husband) who are used to being taken out to amazing restaurants daily... In fact, we discovered we%26#39;ll all be at Adour tomorrow night... review to follow...

evening, sounds fab - even with the miscue on the doneness of the steaks - have to say it beats my dinner which was hardly orgasmic, didn%26#39;t even make it to foreplay!!!!

Can%26#39;t wait to hear about Adour.

Poppa

Grayz - mini review

This is definitely an add to the list place for when Poppa and Momma want a romantic night out!

and, I omitted the sentence about the decent range in wine prices - from $40 to 4 figures... White is not my forte, so I didnt look at the California whites - they could have been less. We had something the client suggested, that was excellent - a ZD Chardonnay (not sure about the ZD because all I can think when I see those initials are Ziff Davis, publisher of PC Magazine - a horrible former employer! karma - just filed bankruptcy)

Evening - better be careful for with the casual use of the term ';karma';...although as a lapsed catholic I think it%26#39;s just a venal, as opposed to mortal, sin.

Still, it would be a mitzvah (sp?) to show more respect for certain paths to nirvana.

How%26#39;s that for schadenefreude?

Salaam,

That%26#39;s a good point John.

That short rib croque monsieur sounds fantastic!

Even the underdone steaks sound good to me, but I like rare meat.

Poppa, I was playing with my balls. Not as good an experience.

You know, it has been bothering me all night... Did I eat the dessert? Do I remember eating the dessert or did I scarf it down so quickly that I didnt even taste it! Ordered a chocolate hazelnut tarte that I%26#39;m pretty sure I ate, but cannot remember it now. And we only had 2 bottles of wine, so I wasnt drunk.

Sounds really good. I liked the ';gorgeous, floral arrangement'; description of the salad.
