Will hotels do a deal for a 7 night stay?

Hi, is it worth contacting hotels directly (via phone) to see if they will offer a deal for a 7 night stay? Planning a trip for Oct. and accommodation is really expensive then. Anyone tried it with any luck before??

Before you do, if there%26#39;s a particular hotel you want, check around on different websites besides the hotel%26#39;s own (hotels.com, expedia.com, quikbook.com, etc.) and see what the cheapest price is you can find. Then ask what they can offer. Many of the affinia.com hotels have 7 day rates but we%26#39;ve heard you can sometimes do even better than that if you phone. I recently heard someone got a better deal from hotels.com calling and speaking to someone than was offered online.
