Hotel booking-through main hotel website or Hotels.com

Hi all,

This maybe a silly question but which would you do:

I am looking to book the Milford Plaza hotel and the price difference between booking on the hotel website itself and www.hotels.com is very little - 鈧?20

My main question is:

Do I have to pay upfront on my credit card if i book with Hotels.com or with the Milford Plaza.

Are you likely to get a better room if you book directly through a hotel itself?

Thanking you in advance for replies

Read the fine print at both the Milford Plaza site and at hotels.com; it should clearly state if the rate requires prepayment, or if you are simply holding the room with a credit card. If you are required to prepay, there is usually no option to get a refund if you cancel, so make sure of your travel plans before you do so.

As to the quality of room being dependent on the method you use for making the reservation, I%26#39;ve never found that to make a difference. There are those who claim if you book directly through the hotel you get a better room, but I always ask for a room on an upper floor and almost always get one, regardless of how I book the reservation.

I agree with Rocco YOU need to read the small print carefully. Is it possible the hotel rate includes breakfast and hotels.com doesn%26#39;t? Or hotels.com price requires prepayment or is not cancelable? Your other option is contacting the hotel and asking if they will match the hotels.com price. Very often they%26#39;ll agree.
