driving to NYC via Woodbury Premium Outlets.

My daughter and I are driving from Kingston Ontario to NYC next week - via Woodbury Common premium outlets. We are planning to spend a night in a hotel close to the outlet mall and wondered if it made sense to leave the car there and try to take a bus or train into NYC - and then back again after our 2 night stay in NYC. Does anyone know if this is feasible?

THANKS!

You would have to check with the hotel you are staying at directly about parking there for non-guests. There is a train to the city from the Harriman station. I would NOT leave the car in the lot at Woodbury Commons. Check with www.mta.info about overnight parking at the train station.

Further to Al%26#39;s advice, here%26#39;s a thread with info on the hotels near Woodbury.

The closest is Harriman Motor Inn according to that thread and here%26#39;s a list from the Woodbury website of others

As Al says,you%26#39;d have to contact whichever hotel you decide on to see if you could leave the car there or what they would charge. Perhaps is you decided to stay there on your last night before leaving the area, they might be more likely to agree. ;)

Your other option would be to leave the car at a train station. The closest train station is Harriman. There is daily parking there but don%26#39;t know whether you could leave the car overnight. Here%26#39;s the info page. Perhaps there%26#39;s someone you could phone.

You could also drive to another Metro North station. Here%26#39;s a map

Besides the issue of whether you can leave the car there overnight or not.

There is the issue of whether you will be able to even find a parking space as most suburban commuter lots are filled to overflowing on weekdays and require permits to park in many of the spaces. What little ';daily'; parking spaces are available get filled quite early in the morning.

Thanks for the advice. We are staying at the Chelsea Lodge in Manhatten - and they don%26#39;t have any parking so have advised me that there is secure parking garage for approx $30 a day three blocks from the hotel. Do you think I am likely to actually get parking there - or like the suburban lots will it be likely be a huge hassle and full? We plan to arrive mid-morning in Manhatten on a Wednesday morning.

THANKS!!!!!!

hi there!

i%26#39;m from out of town and am planning to make a 2 day trip to the woodbury outlet.

i read some threads that some people wouldn%26#39;t recommend to park the car at the outlet.

why is that?

my husband and i actually plan to book a hotel near woodbury for 2 nights (to avoid expensive rates in nyc hotels) and drive to the outlet every morning for the 2 days..

we%26#39;re that crazy about getting a good deal..

can someone tell me whether it%26#39;s ok to drive and park at the outlet??

psyense, it%26#39;s fine to drive and park your car at Woodbury Commons for the day if you are shopping there. Just don%26#39;t park it there overnight.

Just to clarify, It%26#39;s fine to park at woodbury, sometimes it is a bit hard to find a place, but there is Valet parking as well. It is busy, and someitmes hard to find a place close to an entrance, but it is fine. Like most shopping centers you can not park overnight and you car may be removed.
